We welcome new members and guests. Our membership year runs from 1 November to 31 October and the current fee for 2026/27 is £50 per person, payable in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer. To join please download our Application form and follow the instructions.
To attend a lecture as a guest the fee is £7 per lecture.

Joining the Committee
The Dover Deal and Sandwich Arts Society offers varied monthly lectures and study days led by knowledgeable, engaging speakers. Members also enjoy outings, visits, tours and informal coffee mornings, with opportunities to socialise and take part. Our diverse local membership gives the Society its vibrancy.
Like many similar organisations, we rely on a small committee to keep the Society running smoothly. Most members will know us through our individual roles, outlined below. We work well together and enjoy our responsibilities. We meet on the first Monday of each month, except July and August, to review the previous month’s lecture. We aim to give members good value for their annual subscription, and feedback on our lectures, outings, tours and visits to historic venues and galleries is very positive.
Welcoming new committee members and sharing our experience helps the Society thrive, develop and attract new people. If you would like to become more involved, joining the committee is a rewarding way to contribute. It requires a time commitment, and members usually serve for at least three years.

Chair (Chris Flint)
Chris chairs committee meetings and introduces speakers at our monthly meetings. He also serves on The Arts Society Kent Area committee, which links local societies with head office.
Hon Secretary (Sandra Dearden)
Sandra records the minutes of committee meetings and provides support behind the scenes.
Hon Treasurer (Linda Jenkins)
Linda manages our finances and ensures they meet head office requirements.
Young Art (Mike Judd)
Mike builds local contacts to encourage Young Arts in schools, one of the Society’s core purposes.
Outings Secretary (Carol Adlam)
Carol organises outings and visits, liaises with travel companies and venue staff, and records members’ interest in attending.
Programme Secretary (Jac Dunay & Gilly Brooke-Turner)
Jac and Gilly select speakers for the lectures and study days in our annual programme.
Publicity (Josephine Long)
Josephine creates eye-catching posters and flyers and manages the Society’s publicity.
Membership Secretary (Denise Lyon)
Denise maintains membership records and coordinates letters and other communications with members.
Website (Tim Mottishaw)
Tim manages the Society’s website and Facebook page and helps Malcolm with IT and audiovisual equipment.
IT & AV equipment (Malcolm Hall)
Malcolm sets up and supports the computer, projector and sound system at meetings and keeps the equipment up to date.
